Principal’s Report – Matt Robie and Cameron Wendt

  • First week of school focused on Responsive Classroom
  • Widening of the exit from parking lot
  • GR met their goals for improvement on MAPS testing last school year.

Committee Reports

Treasurer’s Report -

  • Provided copy of budget for the year

Activities

  • October 12th Movie Night (Ferdinand) - Held in GR gym - snacks and water will be provided

Book Fair

  • Enchanted Forest Theme - Volunteers will be needed for setup and to work during the fair

Conference Meals

  • Held twice a year during conferences- Will request for food/beverage donation items

Striders

  • Program overview was provided. Details can be found at http://www.grantraganpto.com/Volunteer/striders-program
  • Ipads will be used with a new program to track the progress of students
  • Volunteers opportunities are posted and help is needed

School Supplies / Apparel

  • Sales Sale is held once a year and is live now
  • Orders must be placed by September 14 - Items expected to be delivered first week in October
  • If you would like to order gifts and surprises for your students, write Kathy Slade as teacher

Yearbook

  • Theme will be “Growing” - Price will increase from $16-$18 due to the number of pages needed to include all students/classrooms

Communications

  • Actively promoting events and programs on Facebook, website and newsletter
  • Please like, follow and engage in posts to increase traffic and visibility

Staff Appreciation

  • First event will be held in October
  • Plan to roll out the Wauk the Talk program this year where staff members are nominated for going above and beyond. New this year: families will be able to participate in nominations along with staff member peers.

Classroom Coordinator

  • Parties will be held on October 25th, December 21, and February 15 from 2:30-3:15
  • Classroom coordinators at each grade level will coordinate to have a common craft, snack and activity

Restaurant Nights

  • Panchero’s will be scheduled in November
  • Chuck E Cheese scheduled for February 21st
  • Z’Mariks scheduled for April 16th

Fundraising

  • Fun Run scheduled for September 28th - details available http://www.grantraganpto.com/events/annual-founders-fun-runwalk
  • Assembly for students to kickoff the event on Friday, September 7
  • Prizes were announced

New Business

  • Fun Run - September 28th
  • Movie Night - October 12th

  • October 2nd - Elizabeth Olson, Waukee Foundation + Grade level focus - Fourth and Fifth
  • November 6th - Grade level focus - Kindergarten / First
